I’ve been known to explore one or two bars in every place I visit; you know, for research. So today I thought I’d share a few of my favorite bars around the world! Some are fancy, some are just a hole in the wall, and some well….you’ll see. In no particular order, let get started.

1.Motel Mexicola –  Bali, Indonesia

This Mexican inspired restaurant and bar is located in Seminyak. Try a Porn Star Mojito- rum, mint, lime, coconut, and a shot of Prosecco. Then get out on the dance floor but don’t be surprised when the servers bring out bottles of tequila and ask you to tip your head back! This place is also magical for late night tacos.

2. Sing Sing Theater- Bangkok, Thailand

Located at Soi Sukhumvit 45 this bar is definitely a little bit on the higher end, offering premium spirits (which can be kinda hard to find in Thailand) and performances by acclaimed artists. It is not hard to imagine yourself stepping into a 1930’s Shanghai brothel here. A very cool place to check out one night in Bangkok.

3. Karaoke Kan- Tokyo, Japan

If you’ve seen the movie Lost in Translation, this is the place of Bill Murray’s singing session. Located in Shibuya this karaoke hub tends to draw in a younger and rowdier crowd. Make friends with people at your hostel and gather up a group of 10 or more to get the best rooms covered in disco lights and luminous paint with booming sound systems. They even have costumes to wear and you can order everything from sake to tambourines on the intercom.

 4. The White Horse- Austin, Texas

If Honky Tonkin’ sounds like something you’re into, check out The White Horse in Austin, Texas. This cool, lowkey bar fills with regulars and live music every night. There’s photo booths, pool tables, and a small yard to hang out in between sets. There’s a full bar and they even serve whiskey on TAP. If you think this honky-tonk is just for old cowboys then think again. The crowd here is a great mix of everyone from cowboys to hipsters.

 5. Al’s Mar Azul-Vieques, Puerto Rico

This shacky little blue hole in the wall is one of my favorite spots to kick back. Nothing fancy here, just great food, cheap drinks, and an amazing oceanfront view. I suggest getting here in time for dinner and ordering up some fresh grouper! Then after dinner hangout for a few beers and watch the sunset.
